Ebba Lange is a Stockholm-based creative director, photographer and videographer. Ebba’s style is raw and emotionally charged, blending elements of fashion, portraiture, behind-the-scenes and fine art. Her work often has a sense of intimacy, as though you’re peeking into someone’s private moment. The influence from early cinema is evident in Ebba's work, which frequently features analog photography and a distinctive black-and-white editing style.
From a young age, Ebba aspired to be a film director, inspired by the works of directors like Ingmar Bergman and Quentin Tarantino. In her teens, Ebba’s admiration for music and artistry led her to start working with Swedish artist Cherrie. Having been a dedicated fan of her, Ebba had a unique ability to understand her visions, and translate her music into visuals. Today, Ebba has worked with numerous artists such as Sabina Ddumba, Fricky, Z.E, Nápoles, Elyanna, Daniela Rathana, Broder John, Zara Larsson, LUCIIA and Janice. Her work includes shooting and directing visuals, as well as shooting covers and press photos.
In her early twenties, Ebba developed social anxiety which made her turn to event photography as an outlet. Instead of feeling restricted by her awkwardness, Ebba used the camera to access environments she instinctively wanted to escape. Event photography became a way for Ebba to find her own place in Stockholm’s nightlife, as well as yet another outlet for her creative vision. Ebba has since worked with brands and bars/clubs such as Adidas, Puma, H&M Beauty, New Balance, Flattered, Space NK, NordicFeel, Tjoget, Paradiso, Trädgården, Södra Teatern and BCA.
Ebba has also carried out several projects of her own, such as her film tribute series, in which she applies her own creative vision to some truly legendary movies. In 2022, Ebba launched her own deck of cards, in which 52 women were photographed to present one card each. The photos were all taken in Ebba's one-bedroom apartment, and the deck of cards can be found in several locations throughout Stockholm such as Fotografiska and Moderna Muséet.
Throughout her career, Ebba's work has been featured in prestigious online magazines like Vogue Scandinavia, i-D, Dagens Nyheter, Odalisque Magazine and Elle Sweden. Ebba has curated solo exhibitions, and been part of group exhibitions at Hedenius Editions, Umeå Kulturhus, Botkyrka konsthall, Urban Deli, Häktet and Hornstulls Bodega. In 2024 she directed Faysa Idle's poetry show "Allt som glimmar är inte guld" which premiered at a sold out Södra Teatern and continued at Way Out West and Malmöfestivalen.
As someone who is rarely satisfied with her work, Ebba firmly believes that art is to be found in the creative process, and not in the end result. She swears by the idea that “there’s no such thing as perfection, only deadlines”.
